Coaxial Loop Couplers

 Along with the above range of Coaxial Directional Couplers Phase 2 Microwave Ltd have also developed various coaxial loop couplers suited to narrower band, higher power applications whilst offering higher directivity. Typical usied in applications such as Antenna VSWR monitoring.

In general because this style of coupler is not loaded with the PCB dielectric material it has lower insertion loss. Also the directivity is tuneable during the setup and test process allowing superior directivity performance to be achieved (typically around >25dB).

The diagram above shows a 3 stage coupler (2 x forward coupling & 1 x reverse coupling) operating over a 400MHz band in S band and has a total length of around 100mm including connectors. Each stage having give  a typical directivity of >25dB.

This compact design lends itself well to having multiple cascaded stages  and / or integrated with other components such as filters, diplexers and mulitplexers.

In the past we have developed this style of coupler for customers proprietary requirements and therefore do not have a list of standard designs readily available. However if you are interest we would be happy to discuss your requirements with you.
